The Construction Operator I at RES is responsible for operating various construction equipment and assisting with restoration and infrastructure projects, supporting site plans, and ensuring safety and quality in outdoor, physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a variety of construction equipment such as excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, and tractors to execute restoration and infrastructure projects
Assist with grading, setting elevations, and installing features according to site plans
Perform equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and ensure safety protocols are followed
Support in training new crew members on safe equipment use and procedures
Monitor work progress against project specifications and communicate with team members
Read and implement construction plans and site instructions in the field
Requirements
2 years of construction experience
1 year of experience operating construction equipment
Strong familiarity with safety practices and PPE
Ability to read project plans and implement them in the field
Ability to set grades with smooth transitions and low tolerances within 0.2 ft
Experience setting grades and installing features according to site plans
Experience operating a range of construction equipment including excavators (10,000 lbs. - 60,000 lbs.), tracked dump trucks, bulldozers, skid loaders, tractors, and ATVs
Experience driving large pick-up trucks and hauling trailers
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, climbing on construction equipment, and navigating hills
Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level
High School Diploma or GED (preferred but not required)
Ability to travel 4-5 nights a week, with per diem and hotel stay provided
