Job Description
The Mechatronics Engineer will design, develop, and optimize automated battery sorting and material handling systems for Redwood's recycling operations, integrating robotics, sensors, and control systems to ensure efficient and safe processing of batteries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize robotic handling, sorting, and positioning systems for battery classification.
- Develop and refine conveyor systems and material handling equipment for efficient processing.
- Integrate sensors, motors, actuators, and control systems into automated systems.
- Collaborate with software, automation, and imaging teams to ensure precise material classification and movement.
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechatronic and conveyor-based systems.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in conveyor system design, material handling automation, or industrial mechatronics.
- Strong understanding of motion control, robotics, and industrial automation systems.
- Experience working with industrial control systems and sensors for conveyor automation.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for system design and integration.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electromechanical actuation for automated material handling.
- Ability to develop and refine robotic handling systems, including pick-and-place mechanisms, sorting, and positioning systems.
- Ability to design, develop, and optimize conveyor systems and material handling equipment for efficient material transport and processing.
- Ability to integrate sensors, motors, actuators, and control systems into automated systems.
- Experience supporting the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechatronic and conveyor-based systems in production facilities.
- Ability to ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and design systems for safe operation in an automated environment.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other standards.
- Ability to work in challenging conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while using PPE.
- Essential physical capabilities such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, nights, or be on-call as part of the job.
- Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required.
Benefits & Perks
Salary range: $122,500 - $241,500 USD
