Job Description
The Technical Product Manager for Data Protection is responsible for leading the development and strategic planning of data backup and recovery solutions for enterprise storage products, collaborating with engineering teams and partners to ensure high-performance, seamless data resilience across hybrid cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the end-to-end technical strategy for data protection features, including backup, recovery, replication, and cloud integration.
- Influence product roadmaps of strategic technology partners to ensure seamless integration with native protection capabilities.
- Analyze data protection workloads and market trends to maintain industry-leading recovery speed and efficiency.
- Create technical enablement tools, architectural guides, and customer presentations to support sales and field engineering teams.
- Oversee the full product lifecycle from inception to strategic transitions, collaborating with leadership on project scope and priorities.
Requirements
- Deep Data Protection Domain Expertise with expert-level understanding of the enterprise backup landscape, including hands-on experience with major applications such as Cohesity, Rubrik, Veeam, etc., and their interaction with cloud-native storage protocols.
- Strategic Technical Leadership demonstrated by a proven track record of owning product lifecycles and driving results, with the ability to navigate complex release milestones and product line transitions in an agile environment.
- Full-Stack Datacenter Fluency with broad technical depth across storage solutions, networking, and security, with a specific focus on how data protection workloads impact infrastructure sizing and performance.
- Strong executive communication influence with the ability to synthesize complex technical data into a clear vision, strategy, and execution plan for both engineering teams and customer stakeholders.
- Ability to architect the Data Protection Roadmap and own the end-to-end technical strategy for data protection features, prioritizing feature tradeoffs and requirements that align with modern RPO RTO demands across hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience influencing the product roadmaps of strategic technology partners such as Veeam, Commvault, and Cohesity to ensure deep, performant integration with native protection capabilities.
- Experience conducting deep-dive analysis of data protection workload characteristics and competitive sizing to ensure industry benchmarks for recovery speed and efficiency.
- Ability to transform complex technical specifications into high-impact sales enablement tools, architectural guides, and customer-facing presentations that simplify the data protection story for global enterprises.
- Proven experience collaborating with executive leadership to define the scope of multi-year projects and overseeing the full product lifecycle from inception through strategic product line transitions.
- Location requirement to work primarily in the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
