The role involves designing, deploying, and managing high-performance data center networks, automating infrastructure processes, and supporting the buildout of a new data center facility, with a focus on network reliability, security, and automation engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deploy high-performance spine-leaf data center fabrics using technologies like BGP EVPN VXLAN and VRF-based segmentation.
Develop and maintain automated workflows for network configuration and provisioning using Ansible, Python, and ZTP.
Lead the onsite technical buildout of the Plano data center, including rack setup, cabling, and migration of tenant testbeds.
Monitor and optimize network health through onboarding devices into NMS tools and managing incident lifecycle for L2 and L3 issues.
Mentor junior engineers and establish documentation standards, runbooks, and network topologies for global operations.
Requirements
Deep technical command of L1-L3 networking including OSPF, BGP, EVPN VXLAN, IPv4, IPv6, and hands-on experience operating major switching platforms like Arista, Cisco, or Juniper.
Proven ability to manage infrastructure through code, utilizing Linux proficiency and scripting in Python and Shell to build Ansible-driven deployment and monitoring solutions.
Extensive experience configuring data center firewalls, load balancers, and network zones to maintain robust security postures across complex lab and production environments.
A track record of leading scoped technical workstreams independently from initial design and capacity planning to incident response and high-stakes data center migrations.
Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent technical experience.
At least 3 years of experience in data center engineering or related networking roles.
Experience designing and deploying high-performance spine-leaf fabrics, including deploying Clos spine-leaf data center fabrics.
Experience with BGP EVPN VXLAN and VRF-based segmentation to provide secure, scalable connectivity for data center environments.
Ability to develop and maintain automated workflows using Ansible, Python, and ZTP to standardize configuration templates and integrate network provisioning into compute and PDU commissioning workflows.
Support the onsite technical lead role for data center buildout, including coordinating rack pod turn-ups, structured cabling verification, and migration of tenant testbeds.
Ability to optimize network health by onboarding devices into NMS flow tools and managing the full lifecycle of Layer 2 and Layer 3 incidents to ensure 24/7 operational reliability.
Serve as a senior resource for NetDevOps practices, mentoring junior engineers, and defining documentation standards, runbooks, and topologies for global network operations.
Willingness to work in an in-office environment at the Dallas, Texas area, with the expectation of regular on-site work at the Plano data center for deployments and incident response once active.
Availability to work standard US business hours with flexibility for global collaboration, including participation in an on-call rotation and maintenance windows to support 24/7 operations.
Occasional travel to other Pure data centers, such as in Utah and California, for planning sessions and team on-site activities.
