A Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer at Pure Storage is responsible for understanding customer needs, demonstrating technical solutions, and supporting the sales process to drive revenue growth in the data storage industry through technical expertise and strategic collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Understand customer business needs and tailor storage solutions accordingly
Collaborate with sales teams and partners to create a seamless customer experience
Present and demonstrate Pure Storage products and solutions to clients
Translate customer requirements into innovative technical solutions
Lead technical evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations
Develop technical proposals, responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
Create and deliver technical presentations to showcase product value
Identify and pursue new opportunities for interoperability and performance testing
Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and product positioning
Support technical marketing efforts through materials like whitepapers and web presentations
Requirements
Minimum of 5 or more years of relevant experience in technology, design, and communications.
Pre-sales experience is required.
Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts preferred.
Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions.
Experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients.
Contribute significant portions and/or lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs.
Superior knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN, Linux, NFS file systems, and Linux distributed network environment.
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP is a plus.
Experience with installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, and windowing systems.
Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes (k8s), and microservices architectures is a plus.
Strong knowledge of digital transformation to Cloud Native architecture, On-Prem, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers.
Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking.
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree, or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with modern web architecture such as LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture is a plus.
Curiosity and passion for technology, with the ability to explain and demonstrate new technology platforms and concepts to customers.
Must work from the Tokyo office in compliance with company policies unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
