The Principal Product Manager for the Foundation team leads the development and strategic planning of the core software architecture for a flagship storage platform, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability in enterprise storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Drive the core software architectural roadmap for the storage platform, ensuring performance and reliability.
Define technical specifications and prioritize features for enterprise storage solutions.
Translate complex storage needs into actionable product requirements for engineering development.
Conduct technical analysis of the storage landscape to identify gaps and opportunities.
Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure scalability and hardware-software integration.
Develop technical documentation, whitepapers, and customer materials to enable sales and support teams.
Requirements
A robust technical foundation in enterprise storage protocols, flash management, and data protection architectures, with the ability to navigate the nuances of storage-class memory and high-performance networking.
Proven ability to manage complex software release milestones from concept to general availability (GA), with specific experience navigating the trade-offs inherent in large-scale distributed systems.
The ability to parse telemetry and market data to identify performance bottlenecks or feature gaps, converting data-driven insights into a prioritized technical backlog.
Strong capability to lead through influence, gaining buy-in from senior architects and developers while maintaining a clear vision for the product's technical evolution.
Experience in translating complex needs in storage operating systems, Data Reduction, Quality of Service (QoS), High Availability, networking protocols such as Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, NVMe-over-Fabrics (NVMe-oF), and SaaS integration into actionable product requirement documents (PRDs).
Experience conducting deep-dive technical analysis of the storage landscape to identify gaps and opportunities, ensuring the product maintains its lead in IOPS, latency, and data reduction efficiency.
Ability to direct the technical requirements and feature tradeoffs for FlashArray software, prioritizing high-availability, performance, and core storage services to meet enterprise SLAs.
Experience collaborating with the CTO office and Engineering teams to develop and execute the technical roadmap for storage platforms.
Location requirement: Must be able to work primarily in the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, travel, or approved leave.
