Job Description

The Senior Manager of the Fleet team at Nuro is responsible for leading vehicle platform operations, ensuring fleet safety, reliability, and readiness, while managing cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced autonomous vehicle environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead vehicle platform operations, fleet readiness, and field support to ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and mission readiness.
  • Manage and develop a multi-layered team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff to maintain operational excellence and safety standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with hardware, software, and operations teams to support deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of fleet operations.
  • Set operational cadence, establish expectations, drive accountability, and develop leaders within the fleet team.
  • Own fleet strategy, workforce planning, and resource allocation to align with business needs and ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Serve as the escalation point for fleet and depot operations, resolving complex issues through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Drive performance metrics related to fleet readiness, uptime, quality, cost, and service delivery, implementing initiatives for reliability and efficiency.
  • Design and improve systems and processes to support growth, operational rigor, and consistent execution across sites.
  • Oversee budget planning and operational spend, balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership, promoting high standards of execution, decision-making, and cross-functional partnership.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience in fleet, operations, service, or other technical organizations, including leading managers or supervisors in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.
  • Experience with vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting, with the software fluency to lead teams working across hardware-software systems.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into clear plans, team structure, and disciplined operational execution.
  • Proven ability to build alignment and drive progress across engineering, product, and operations teams in complex, ambiguous environments.
  • Use of metrics, judgment, and process rigor to improve fleet performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in leading a multi-layered team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff, and developing leaders within that team.
  • Ability to set a high standard for safety, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within teams.
  • Experience with budget planning and operational spend management, balancing near-term execution with long-term scalability and organizational effectiveness.
  • Comfort working onsite, navigating changing priorities, and supporting operational needs in the field.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to partner with hardware, software, autonomy, product, supply chain, and operations teams.
  • Technical credibility in vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead through ambiguity and change, providing steady leadership and ensuring continuity of execution.
  • Excellent judgment, clarity, and example-setting leadership in technical and operational decision-making.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation/salary range between $145,830 and $219,000 depending on experience and qualifications
Eligible for an annual performance bonus
