Job Description

A senior SSD Validation Engineer responsible for leading the qualification, testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement of NVMe SSDs to ensure high performance, reliability, and compatibility, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the qualification of NVMe SSDs through developing and executing test plans for performance, endurance, reliability, and compatibility.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause identification, collaborating with engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Develop new SSD qualification tests focusing on advanced NVMe features and requirements.
  • Improve qualification processes by identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency enhancements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to improve team practices.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in storage system validation or design, with deep expertise in SSD HDD development and qualification.
  • Strong proficiency in storage interface protocols, including NVMe, SAS, and SATA, with hands-on experience using PCIe SAS SATA bus analyzers and trace capture tools.
  • Expertise in failure mode analysis for flash-based devices and a proven ability to lead complex troubleshooting efforts.
  • Advanced scripting language skills to automate tests and streamline qualification cycles.
  • Experience leading the end-to-end qualification of NVMe SSDs, including developing and executing test plans across performance, endurance, reliability, and compatibility metrics.
  • Ability to perform failure analysis and root cause identification, including initial triage and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and customer escalations.
  • Ability to proactively define and develop new SSD qualification tests focusing on advanced NVMe features, functions, and new requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, present technical findings, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Willingness to work primarily in an in-office environment at the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with company policies.
