Job Description
A leadership role responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of Linux storage protocol stacks and device drivers for core storage area network components, with a focus on NVMe Fabrics, Fibre Channel, and TCP/IP, collaborating closely with hardware teams to ensure system performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, debugging, and maintenance of core storage area network software components.
- Develop and enhance Linux initiator stacks for FlashArray, focusing on NVMe Fabrics RoCE, FC, TCP/IP, and FC-SCSI interfaces.
- Maintain and improve Fibre Channel SCSI target drivers and NIC drivers to enhance system resilience and performance.
- Contribute bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream to optimize storage protocol performance.
- Collaborate with hardware teams on system bring-up, interface design, and firmware management.
- Design and implement robust interfaces between software and hardware components.
Requirements
- Strong experience writing device drivers and or kernel development for Linux or Unix, preferably in storage and or networking.
- Experience designing significant components in storage protocol stacks and knowledge of SCSI, FC-SCSI, iSCSI, and or NVMe Fabrics.
- Proven experience leading other engineers technically, including mentoring junior staff and delivering high-quality projects on time.
- Proficiency in C and C++ development, experience with Python, and specific knowledge of the VMWare initiator stack.
- Strong experience in debugging and performance analysis optimization for storage systems, including debugging difficult protocol kernel system issues.
- Experience developing and maintaining software for Linux initiator stacks attached to FlashArray, focusing on modern NVMe Fabrics RoCE, FC, TCP/IP, and traditional FC-SCSI interfaces.
- Experience maintaining and enhancing Fibre Channel SCSI target drivers and NIC drivers, including improving resilience, multipathing, link health, and RAS capabilities.
- Ability to direct the end-to-end software lifecycle architecture, including design, coding, debugging, release, inventory, configuration, and monitoring of system software.
- Experience collaborating with hardware teams on system bring-up, system power-on, interface design, and firmware management.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute bug fixes and enhancements to Linux upstream as needed.
