The role involves leading hardware development, qualification, and testing for high-performance storage systems, focusing on x86 architecture, high-speed signals, and system integration, while collaborating cross-functionally to ensure robust and innovative storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, lead, implement, and debug hardware design and qualification projects
Participate in all phases of product development, including design, documentation, testing, and support for custom hardware
Define, implement, and automate hardware validation and qualification tests
Analyze high-speed signals and perform signal integrity analysis using oscilloscopes and bus analyzers
Review and analyze device and system-level power regulators, cooling, and electrical signal integrity
Improve hardware design and qualification processes for efficiency and robustness
Set up and run stress tests using industry-standard tools
Qualify CPU subsystems, memory, storage interfaces, and peripherals
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and support teams to introduce new storage subsystems into production
Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations to support system hardening and customer escalations
Provide guidance and mentorship to team members
Requirements
8 years of experience in x86 and storage related hardware development and qualification
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; a Master's degree is considered a plus
Experience working at enterprise data storage system companies or server companies is preferred
Strong knowledge of hardware design, x86 architectures, and interfaces
Ability to qualify x86 hardware at the electrical, signal integrity (SI), protocol, and functional levels
Strong knowledge of selecting x86 subcomponents, NVMe drives, power supplies (AC/DC), and discrete power circuits
Experience planning, implementing, and automating hardware qualification processes
Strong experience with scripting languages such as Python and BASH, and test development
Understanding of Verilog and CPLD design background
Ability to work with diagnostics engineers by providing direction and reviewing test plans to ensure proper coverage
Detail-oriented, analytical, process-savvy, customer-focused, and adaptable to business needs
Highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, technical development environment
Experience working in and leading cross-functional teams
High level of teamwork and collaboration skills
Ability to operate in a fast-paced changing business environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to work onsite at the Santa Clara, CA office in accordance with company policies
