Job Description
A Hardware Design Engineer responsible for developing and validating high-performance, energy-efficient storage hardware solutions, including SSD hardware design from concept to production, troubleshooting, and process improvement within a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hardware design from concept through production for SSD hardware.
- Implement, debug, and validate SSD hardware designs.
- Conduct interoperability testing across server storage systems and SSDs.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues in collaboration with internal teams and partners.
- Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations for field issues and customer escalations.
- Evaluate system-level trade-offs using bus technologies like PCIe, DDR, and NAND.
- Utilize automation and AI to improve SSD design and validation processes.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in hardware design and development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
- Proven experience in validating hardware at the electrical, signal integrity, protocol, and functional levels, with proficiency using high-speed oscilloscopes and differential probes.
- Strong knowledge of major bus technologies such as PCIe, DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C.
- A strong background in using scripting languages, such as Python and BASH, to enhance hardware design and validation processes.
- Ability to lead hardware design from concept through production, including planning, implementation, and debugging of SSD hardware designs.
- Experience in driving interoperability testing across server storage systems and SSDs, diagnosing, and resolving hardware-related issues in collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and Joint Development Manufacturing (JDM) partners.
- Experience in conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations to support field issues and customer escalations.
