Job Description
Lead and manage the firmware development team for high-performance enterprise storage products, driving the product roadmap, ensuring quality and reliability, and collaborating across cross-functional teams to innovate and optimize storage technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Direct Flash Module (DFM) Firmware Team to design and innovate core storage technology for high-performance FlashArray products.
- Define and manage the firmware product roadmap and long-term feature strategy based on business requirements and market trends.
- Drive Agile development processes, oversee sprint cycles, manage development backlog, and ensure timely delivery of firmware features.
- Mentor, manage, and develop a high-performing team of firmware engineers, fostering professional growth and process improvements.
- Oversee firmware quality, integration, and validation to ensure enterprise-grade reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, NAND media, and software to align development efforts and resolve integration challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading technical teams in embedded systems, specifically in the design and development of firmware for high-performance hardware or storage devices.
- Extensive hands-on experience and profound knowledge of embedded firmware development, low-level hardware-software interfaces, and proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Demonstrated ability to apply Agile methodologies to manage project schedules, deliverables, and dependencies throughout the entire product development lifecycle from concept to market release.
- Exceptional analytical and technical problem-solving skills, with a track record of diagnosing and resolving complex issues in firmware hardware integration and optimizing system performance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate complex technical strategies, negotiate priorities, and collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional engineering and program management teams.
- Ability to define and champion the firmware roadmap, own the long-term product and feature strategy for DFM firmware, and translate business requirements and market opportunities into an actionable engineering plan.
- Experience managing and growing a high-performing team of firmware engineers, providing continuous feedback, mentoring, and fostering professional growth.
- Experience overseeing firmware quality, integration, and validation across data path, NAND media management, and low-level hardware interfaces to ensure enterprise-grade, highly available storage components.
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams including Purity software, hardware design, and NAND qualification teams to align development efforts and resolve integration challenges.
- Willingness and ability to work primarily in-office at the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
