Job Description
An Engineering Manager responsible for leading a team in developing and maintaining enterprise-grade file services and distributed systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and operational excellence in a data storage technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full software development lifecycle for core file features, ensuring high-quality, scalable code delivery.
- Collaborate with architects and Product Management to define the roadmap for multi-server and directory services.
- Champion testing strategies and CI/CD practices to ensure operational excellence and defect prevention.
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and supporting professional growth.
- Coordinate with Protocol and Security teams to ensure smooth releases that meet security and auditing standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead and scale software engineering teams, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and inclusive engineering culture.
- Extensive technical background in building large-scale distributed systems, storage, or filesystems, including the ability to perform deep-dive code reviews in languages like C, Go, Java, or Python.
- Proven track record of shipping complex infrastructure products using Agile methodologies, with the analytical skills to navigate ambiguity and manage stakeholder expectations in a global organization.
- Solid understanding of end-to-end quality practices and a deep appreciation for the customer experience, specifically regarding how file protocols and directory services impact enterprise environments.
- Experience managing and mentoring a team of 5 to 8 engineers, providing technical guidance on complex distributed systems challenges while actively coaching them through career growth and professional development.
- Ability to lead the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for core file features, ensuring the team delivers high-quality, scalable code from initial design through production rollout.
- Ability to partner with senior architects and Product Management to define the roadmap for multi-server and directory services, making critical trade-offs that balance innovative feature delivery with long-term system stability.
- Experience championing rigorous testing strategies and CI/CD health, fostering a culture of operational excellence and defect prevention.
- Ability to align team objectives with global business goals by managing dependencies across Protocol and Security teams, ensuring smooth, predictable releases that meet security and auditing standards.
- Work from the Prague office in compliance with company policies, unless on PTO, work travel, or other approved leave.
