Job Description
The Engagement Manager is responsible for leading the development and management of customer proposals and value propositions, acting as the main point of contact between the company and clients, and coordinating cross-functional teams to demonstrate the strategic and technical benefits of solutions, ultimately supporting customer success and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize, plan, and manage the development of proposals and value propositions according to schedule and deliverables.
- Write and review proposal content, including executive summaries and value messaging, to meet customer needs and ensure consistency.
- Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for customer engagement, managing schedules, deliverables, and approvals.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Account AEs, SEs, Finance, Value Management) to align insights and craft compelling value propositions.
- Lead the organization of customer engagement activities, ensuring clear roles, data requirements, and success criteria.
- Create, verify, and test proposal content, ensuring alignment with value messaging and customer expectations.
- Manage the proposal submission process, including planning reviews, revisions, and obtaining customer signoff.
- Coordinate responses to RFx (RFP, RFQ, RFI) processes, ensuring process adherence and deliverable quality.
- Analyze customer environments to identify improvement areas and develop measurable value-driven solutions.
- Facilitate cross-functional team efforts to deliver high-quality proposals that highlight strategic and technical benefits.
Requirements
- Ten or more years of experience in large deal engagement management managing cross-functional teams to deliver and close client proposals, preferably including experience at a large consulting firm and a technology vendor in a pre-sales Engagement Management role.
- Demonstrable and proven track record of the ability to manage senior client interactions, controlling meeting agendas, deliverables, and approvals.
- Ability to write detailed content summarizing customer content, value, and solutions in executive language.
- Proven ability to analyze complex planning and preparation of an executable plan with the customer and internally.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence customer project stakeholders.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, especially sales engineers and account teams.
- Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering value and building long-term relationships.
- Familiarity with tools to enhance, automate, and simplify the process of delivering outstanding differentiated proposals.
- Experience managing the organization of engagement activities, including defining schedules, roles, data requirements, success criteria, and managing deliverables, timetables, and approvals.
- Ability to lead the creation, collation, vetting, proofing, and testing of proposal content, including executive summaries and value propositions, ensuring consistency and alignment with customer needs.
- Experience managing the proposal submission process, including managing customer reviews, revisions, sign-offs, and ensuring process deliverables are met.
- Experience managing RFx processes such as RFP, RFQ, and RFI, including coordinating with the customer to ensure deliverables, verifying consistency with value messaging, and managing schedules and presentations.
- Ability to serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for internal and customer engagement, owning schedules, deliverables, and sign-offs.
- Proven ability to analyze customer environments, identify areas for improvement, and build compelling value propositions that highlight measurable benefits.
- Strong leadership skills to orchestrate teams from Pure and the customer to advocate for Pure’s technology through outstanding documentation and deliverables.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams to deliver and close proposals, including managing complex and large-scale deals.
- Ability to control meeting agendas, deliverables, and approvals with senior client stakeholders.
- Excellent storytelling skills and the ability to summarize complex solutions in executive language.
- Experience creating detailed plans and executing complex planning and preparation activities with customers and internal teams.
- Strong communication skills to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels, including executive management.
- Familiarity with automation and proposal management tools to improve proposal processes.
