Job Description

A Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer responsible for providing technical leadership, developing innovative storage solutions, and guiding enterprise clients through digital transformation, cloud adoption, and data management strategies to drive business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support for storage solutions and enterprise architecture.
  • Understand customer business drivers and translate their needs into innovative technical solutions.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and solution proposals to customers.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs with tailored technical responses.
  • Collaborate with account managers, specialists, and channel partners to drive revenue and customer success.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for interoperability, testing, and validation of solutions.
  • Develop marketing materials such as whitepapers and web presentations to support product positioning.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies in storage and cloud architectures.
  • Lead evaluations, benchmarks, and system configurations to demonstrate solution capabilities.
  • Act as a role model and mentor for other Systems Engineers.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree and/or equivalent experience
  • Pre-sales experience is required
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience in technology, design, and communications
  • Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts
  • Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions
  • Familiarity with modern web architecture such as LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture is a plus
  • Prior experience in targeting new prospects and converting them into clients
  • Superior knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN
  • Strong knowledge of digital transformation to Cloud Native architecture, On-Prem, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers
  • Previous experience with Linux, NFS file systems, Linux distributed network environment, installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, windowing systems
  • Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, containers, k8s, and microservices architectures is a plus
  • Familiarity with storage-intensive applications and their requirements such as structured databases SQL, Oracle is highly desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills
  • Ability to connect technology solutions, including the Pure Storage portfolio and others from the ecosystem, to measurable customer business outcomes
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical product and architecture presentations with vigor to customers and lock in the technical win with clients and prospective accounts
  • Ability to capture requirements and translate customer’s business needs into innovative solutions to accelerate growth and capacity
  • Ability to author responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Ability to seek out and spur new opportunities for interoperability, functional, and performance testing validation
  • Ability to promote mutual roadmap and planning exchanges
  • Ability to liaise with product and technical marketing to produce materials such as whitepapers and web presentations that support overall alliance plans and objectives
  • Stay current with the competition and ensure that materials accurately reflect the latest, differentiated solution positioning
  • Move with market trends and competitive landscape to promote thought leadership within the organization

Annual base salary range of $228,000-$336,000, determined based on role, level, and location
