This role involves providing technical leadership and support in enterprise storage solutions, developing customer-centric technology strategies, and contributing to sales and marketing efforts within the data storage industry.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and support in storage solutions and architectures
Understand customer business needs and translate them into innovative technical solutions
Support sales efforts through presentations, demonstrations, and responding to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
Collaborate with account teams and partners to create seamless customer experiences and drive revenue growth
Develop social media content to promote solutions and thought leadership
Stay current with industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging storage architectures
Liaise with marketing to produce technical materials such as whitepapers and web presentations
Act as a mentor and role model for other Systems Engineers
Requirements
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical degree and/or equivalent experience
Pre-sales experience is required
8 or more years of relevant experience in technology, design, and communications
Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts
Deep understanding of the architecture, design, and implementation of multi-tiered client-server and web-based computing solutions
Familiarity with modern web architecture such as the LAMP stack, scale-out vs scale-up architectures, AWS well-architected framework, microservices architecture (preferred)
Strong knowledge of current and emerging storage architectures including FC, iSCSI, NAS, OSD, SAN
Knowledge of digital transformation to Cloud Native architecture, On-Prem, Public Cloud, Provisioning Automation, and Containers
Previous experience with Linux, NFS file systems, Linux distributed network environment, installation and configuration of distributed computing, multiprocessing, virtual memory subsystem, storage subsystems architecture, shared memory architectures, cache architectures, windowing systems
Knowledge of VMware, Local Area Networking, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and general networking
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP (preferred)
Ability to capture requirements and translate customer’s business needs into innovative solutions
Experience contributing to or leading responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
Technical leadership and support skills, including acting as a role model and mentor for other Systems Engineers
Ability to develop an exhaustive understanding of customer’s business drivers and decision-making processes
Ability to connect technology solutions to measurable customer business outcomes
Experience supporting the sales of enterprise storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software to enterprise accounts (preferred)
Excellent communication skills for presentations, solution demonstrations, and engaging with customers and internal teams
Ability to stay current with competition and market trends, ensuring materials reflect latest solution positioning
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to promote thought leadership within the organization
