Key Responsibilities
Manage trademark docket, including data entry, deadline tracking, and creating a system for historic mark clearances and product information.
Support trademark prosecution by collecting use-based evidence and managing outside counsel for filings, responses, and legal actions.
Monitor enforcement activities by reviewing watch notices and tracking decisions on actions like protests, oppositions, or cancellations.
Oversee marketplace activities and industry trends to protect IP rights and serve as an internal resource on market shifts.
Review marketing collateral and provide legal support for routine promotional contests and giveaways.
Build and maintain relationships with Marketing and Sales teams for brand protection queries and matter escalation.
Requirements
6 to 9 years of experience as a trademark and brand protection paralegal.
Experience preparing USPTO Trademark filings, including initial filings, responses to office actions, letters of protest, and oppositions at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
Experience with managing trademark docketing for large companies.
Must be comfortable working in high-pace, high-ownership environments where legal guidance is limited.
Ability to support the team in overseeing outside counsel spend and evaluating performance metrics.
Experience reviewing trademark watch notices and tracking internal decisions pursuing actions like letters of protest, oppositions, or cancellations.
Experience monitoring marketplace activities to protect IP rights.
Ability to serve as an internal resource for knowledge on marketplace and industry shifts and trends.
Experience reviewing marketing collateral and providing legal support for routine company contests and promotional giveaways.
Ability to build strong relationships with Marketing and Sales teams to serve as a reliable point of contact for matter escalation.
Familiarity with the role of trademark and brand protection in the B2B, B2E, and services marketplace (highly preferred).
Familiarity with Madrid Protocol and national trademark filing strategies.
Familiarity with trademark search strategies and elementary risk assessments.
Familiarity with marketing collateral review consistent with FTC Endorsement Guides and technology industry standards.
Proficiency in working with Google Workspace, Slack, Compumark Watch, Saegis, IPFolio, Asana project management, and Figma (plus).
