Job Description

The Senior SCADA Engineer will design, develop, and maintain advanced energy management and control systems for utility-scale energy storage projects, ensuring reliable operation and integration of automation technologies within the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Ignition-based SCADA systems and associated platforms
  • Program HMI and integrate data with internal and external applications
  • Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, and related equipment
  • Support daily plant SCADA and control system operations to ensure network reliability and availability
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, development processes, and modifications
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot complex operational technology control system issues

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years related industry experience, with highly preferred experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; electrical engineering degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and maintaining plant control systems using industry standard SCADA and PLC platforms.
  • Experience with Inductive Automation Ignition, preferably Gold or Core certified, with experience in versions 8.1 and/or 8.3.
  • Knowledge and experience with battery energy storage systems use cases including primary frequency response (PFR), fast frequency response (FFR), and black start is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of data logging requirements and various historian platforms.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including DNP3.0, Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, and SNMP.
  • Programming experience in Python, IEC 61131-3, C, C++, or C#.
  • Experience in server deployment and management, specifically with AWS.
  • Proficient in writing technical specifications for process or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of cyber-security best practices, including IT/OT standards.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP and NIST procedures.
  • Ability to explain complex technical analysis in a simplified manner to internal management and external parties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
