Job Description
The Senior Manager, Compliance NERC Operations at Plus Power is responsible for overseeing and implementing the company's NERC compliance program, providing expertise on reliability standards, coordinating audits and regulatory responses, and ensuring compliance across energy storage operations to support the transition to a renewable energy grid.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary compliance SME for NERC standards, providing guidance and training to internal teams.
- Implement, monitor, and improve Plus Power's NERC compliance program to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks and develop controls.
- Coordinate with third-party contractors to support NERC compliance management for operating projects.
- Conduct gap analyses of NERC compliance evidence, report findings, and maintain documentation.
- Respond to regulator requests, audits, and investigations, and develop mitigation and corrective action plans.
- Monitor and interpret new or revised NERC standards and regional guidance to assess operational impacts.
- Coordinate with teams to ensure readiness for new standards, including developing implementation plans.
- Support NERC standard development, commenting, and voting processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- 7 years experience in implementing and or maintaining a NERC compliance program
- Experience as a NERC registered Generator Owner or Generator Operator strongly preferred
- Ability to explain NERC Reliability Standard analysis in a simplified manner to the internal management team and or internal stakeholders
- NERC audit certification e.g., Certified NERC Compliance Professional or equivalent is a plus
- Experience completing and reviewing NERC RSAWs is a plus
- Experience utilizing a GRC application is a plus
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic compliance initiatives
- Experience supporting compliance responses to RFIs or Investigations from ISOs and or RTOs strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members who are geographically dispersed
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deliver timely, high-quality results
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and commitment to fostering a culture of compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and initiative with a bias for action
- Proactive mindset to identify obstacles ahead of time and provide and implement solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools and applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
- Occasional travel may be required
