Job Description

The Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Analyst at Planet is responsible for supporting financial reporting, developing accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and external auditors to maintain accurate and transparent financial statements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, documentation, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures in compliance with US GAAP and relevant standards
  • Assist with the month-end and quarter-end close processes, focusing on complex technical accounting areas
  • Research and document technical accounting positions on emerging or complex issues such as equity transactions, business combinations, and leases
  • Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to assess and document accounting implications of new business initiatives, contracts, and transactions
  • Collaborate with external auditors to provide supporting documentation and technical accounting memoranda
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and automation
  • Mentor and develop team members on technical accounting matters
  • Support special projects including system implementations and process improvements
  • Stay current on accounting standards and regulatory developments and implement changes as needed

Requirements

  • 2 years of accounting experience, in a financial reporting or Big 4 Accounting Firm Audit role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other quantitative major
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and experience with technical accounting research
  • Proficiency with accounting systems NetSuite and Workiva DFIN ActiveDisclosure preferred and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities
  • A keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Self-starter able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Deeply curious and driven to learn
