Job Description
Redwood Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of high-power energy storage products, collaborating across engineering teams and eventually building and managing a mechanical engineering team to support large-scale manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for high-power energy storage products, including thermal management, enclosures, and structural integration.
- Perform mechanical analysis such as CFD and FEA to validate designs and ensure performance under real-world conditions.
- Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers for seamless mechanical and system integration.
- Select materials and components in coordination with suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
- Lead and manage a mechanical engineering team, including recruiting, mentoring, and overseeing project goals and timelines.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus in power conversion or energy storage products, ideally for mass production of 10,000 units per year or higher
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and analysis tools including CFD and FEA
- Experience developing tools, infrastructure, and design practices for a growing team
- Hands-on experience in mechanical design, prototyping, and launch in medium-to-high volume production
- Understanding of the relationship between high voltage electronics and the mechanical systems that support and surround them, such as insulation systems and thermal systems
- Ability to perform mechanical analysis including CFD, FEA, thermal analysis, etc., to validate designs and ensure performance under real-world conditions
- Experience selecting materials and components, working closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure cost-effective, high-quality solutions
- Proven track record as a senior mechanical engineer with experience leading projects from concept to deployment
- Ability to manage work in a startup environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with all levels of the organization and presenting to internal and external executives
Benefits & Perks
Salary range: $117,500 - $227,500 USD
Full-time position
