Solutions Architects at Planet work with customers to design and implement geospatial and remote sensing solutions using Planet's satellite data and technologies, supporting project success and long-term value through technical expertise, solution architecture, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Design, architect, and pilot geospatial solutions based on customer requirements
Deliver workshops, demos, and workflows to prototype solutions and improve user experience
Support pre-sales activities by contributing to solution ideation and technical proposals
Lead solution development within Agile teams, coordinating with project managers and engineers
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop optimal solutions for customers
Manage the customer success lifecycle from scoping to delivery, ensuring satisfaction and value
Provide training, technical tutorials, and presentations to promote Planet's products and offerings
Engage with users in Planet’s Education and Research programs to identify new applications
Requirements
A background in remote sensing, geoscience, or geoinformatics, with a degree in GIS, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, Geography, or a related field.
At least 4 years of relevant work experience in a technical geospatial or remote sensing role.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
Extensive programming ability with Python for geospatial applications, applying code best practices to process imagery, manipulate vector data, and build data pipelines.
Experience with solution design, requirement gathering, product user story ideation, solutions design documentation, architecting and prototyping.
Proficiency with geospatial software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL, ENVI or other common geospatial tools.
Industry-specific knowledge and experience in domains such as forestry, natural disasters, sustainability, and agriculture.
Familiarity with cloud-computing environments such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams, with knowledge and familiarity of efficient, metrics-based planning and delivery.
Experience using AI for productivity, coding, and demo app creation (e.g., using Streamlit).
Ability to run workshops or training sessions with users, including working directly with end-user troubleshooting.
