Job Description
The role involves designing, testing, and qualifying spacecraft hardware and systems, with hands-on responsibilities in environmental testing, data analysis, and project management to support the development and launch of satellite platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and validate test plans, procedures, and support tools for satellite components and systems
- Design, procure, and oversee testing fixtures and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) using 3D CAD and FEA analysis
- Conduct environmental testing campaigns, including Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) and thermal testing
- Operate and troubleshoot various test equipment and chambers, ensuring equipment and process reliability
- Analyze test data to identify anomalies, root causes, and areas for improvement
- Document test results, notes, and anomalies, and communicate findings to engineering and manufacturing teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Engineering or Electro-Mechanics Robotics Engineering.
- 4 years of relevant work experience in the aerospace or space systems field.
- Experience in environmental test qualification, running and managing test projects with at least 3 months of Thermal Vacuum testing experience.
- Proficiency in defining test strategies, test plans, test procedures, and general manufacturing workflows.
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles and thermal management technology.
- Data analysis skills for evaluating system performance and identifying anomalies.
- Mechanical systems engineering intuition and critical thinking.
- Proficiency in using Solidworks CAD FEA simulation or equivalent software.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment such as thermal chambers, TVAC chambers, pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and DAQ systems.
- Ability to operate and understand a variety of computer-automated and manual test equipment, including thermal and TVAC chambers, pumps, valves, and compressors.
