Job Description

The Senior Engineering Manager, Manufacturing is responsible for leading the development and execution of assembly, integration, and testing processes for satellite manufacturing, managing engineering teams, and collaborating with design and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute assembly, integration, and test processes for satellites
  • Manage engineering and technician personnel involved in manufacturing
  • Collaborate with design, test, program management, and supply chain teams to deliver spacecraft
  • Create and implement procedures, work instructions, and tooling for assembling and testing spacecraft components
  • Oversee facilities and equipment development to scale manufacturing processes
  • Develop production schedules in coordination with supply chain
  • Drive non-conformance resolution and implement process improvements
  • Collaborate with design engineering to improve spacecraft manufacturability and develop transition processes from prototype to production

Requirements

  • 6 years of manufacturing development experience
  • 4 years of management experience managing complex, interdisciplinary manufacturing processes
  • Experience managing manufacturing processes for assembling, integrating, and testing spacecraft components such as PCBAs, subassemblies, and full spacecraft
  • Hands-on experience with hardware assembly, integration, and test
  • Experience developing assembly, integration, and test processes for PCBAs, subassemblies, and full spacecraft
  • Experience developing mechanical and electrical equipment and fixtures to aid with assembly, integration, and testing
  • Experience developing assembly procedures and work instructions
  • Experience overseeing facilities and capital equipment development for scaling manufacturing processes to meet production demand
  • Experience developing production schedules in collaboration with Supply Chain teams
  • Experience driving non-conformances to resolution and establishing actionable process improvements
  • Experience collaborating with design engineering to improve Spacecraft Design for Manufacturability and providing DFM DFA recommendations, including specific CAD recommendations
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks to develop tooling fixturing and extract views for work instructions
  • Experience with inventory management processes
  • Ability to develop and execute a technology transfer process to the Sustaining Production Team
  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage assembly, integration, and test procedures and work instructions
  • Ability to develop mechanical and electrical equipment and fixtures for assembly, integration, and testing
  • Ability to develop and manage production schedules and daily task planning to ensure on-time delivery of satellites
  • Ability to manage and lead manufacturing engineering and technician staff
  • Excellent organizational skills for project management and task tracking
  • Experience with managing the transition from R&D to production by developing processes for prototype to flight builds
  • Experience with hardware assembly, integration, and test in a hands-on capacity
  • Ability to learn new engineering concepts quickly
  • Experience implementing successful continuous improvement processes
  • Ability to access U.S. and German EU export-controlled information without additional export licensing, as employment is contingent upon this access
