Job Description

The Spacecraft Systems Engineering Intern will assist in the design, development, testing, and operation of Earth imaging satellites, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure satellite systems meet technical and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the design, build, and operation of earth imaging satellites
  • Work through requirements formulation, design, verification, and validation of satellite systems
  • Participate in assembly, integration, and testing of satellite prototypes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure satellites meet customer needs and are ready for mass production
  • Conduct system-level analyses to define future spacecraft systems and reduce risks

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Understanding of one or multiple satellite subsystems, including Mechanical, Thermal, Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS), Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), Propulsion, or Electrical systems.
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Working towards a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with requirement formulation, validation, and verification best practices.
  • Experience with hardware testing, including both functional and environmental testing.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Julia, and/or C.
  • Ability to design, build, and test ideas through coursework or project history, with the capacity to discuss in depth.
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle process, including analysis and design, development tools and technologies, release and version control, and testing methodologies.
  • Access to export-controlled information without requiring additional export licensing, as this position requires compliance with EAR ITAR regulations.

Benefits & Perks

Compensation range: $35 - $60 per hour (US), final salary determined by experience, skills, and location
Work schedule: Full-time, in-office, 5 days per week during internship program
