Job Description
The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for driving sales and developing strategic relationships with key accounts in the Dallas and Fort Worth regions, combining technical knowledge with interpersonal skills to expand market share, increase revenue, and support customer needs within the industrial automation sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives for regional strategic accounts to increase account share, revenue, and profitability.
- Build and maintain relationships with management, procurement, operations, engineering, sales, and other stakeholders within assigned accounts.
- Lead and coordinate business reviews, monitor competitive activity, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Organize and lead cross-functional teams to foster trust and collaboration with strategic accounts.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, and sales materials; deliver product demonstrations and technical solutions.
- Utilize CRM systems for tracking client information, reporting, and measuring sales activities and performance.
- Qualify sales opportunities, follow up on quotations, and develop insights into customer needs and supply chain.
- Achieve or exceed sales quotas through effective sales techniques, including BASE selling skills.
- Collaborate with product teams to develop field presentations and application notes.
- Maintain technical knowledge of Phoenix Contact products and solutions to support sales efforts.
Requirements
- A four-year degree in a technical discipline preferred and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years sales experience in the electronics or industrial automation controls marketplace.
- Experience working with distribution preferred.
- Excellent networking and influencing skills needed to communicate at all levels.
- Exhibits high-level interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Successful history in achieving strategic and sales targets.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel via automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to travel overnight 20-25 nights as dictated by assigned territory.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Punctuality is required, with regular and on-time attendance.
