Job Description

The Sales Engineer OEM at Phoenix Contact is a technical sales professional responsible for driving product sales through relationship building, technical support, and account management within the industrial automation market, focusing on identifying opportunities, supporting sales activities, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of Phoenix Contact products by identifying growth opportunities and building customer relationships
  • Support the sales process through technical support, proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations
  • Maintain and update CRM systems to track customer interactions, sales activities, and performance metrics
  • Achieve or exceed territory sales quotas through ongoing communication and relationship development with accounts
  • Collaborate with internal teams and utilize sales tools to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction
  • Qualify, follow up on opportunities, and develop effective account plans to expand business engagement

Requirements

  • Four-year degree with a technical discipline preferred and or equivalent industry experience, with an emphasis on end-user experience.
  • 1 to 3 years minimum sales experience in the industrial automation controls or end-user marketplace.
  • A strong engineering background or technical degree is essential, providing the foundation for understanding complex products and solutions.
  • Experience working with distribution is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel via airplane and automobile for up to six hours at a time, including overnight travel 20-25 nights per year.
  • Must have a valid driver s license.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to conduct a minimum of 16 to 20 sales calls per week.
  • Must be able to comply with company dress code guidelines.
  • Must be punctual and demonstrate regular and on-time attendance.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain technical competence on all Phoenix Contact products and solutions within the area of focus.
  • Must be able to provide forecasts and reports to the RSM as required.
  • Must be able to independently and or in conjunction with regional management develop and implement effective Mutual Action Plans with assigned customer locations.
  • Must be able to deliver presentations and hands-on demonstrations of Phoenix Contact products, applications, and technology.
  • Must be able to qualify and follow up on all opportunities and quotations within the assigned account portfolio.
  • Must be willing and able to travel overnight 20-25 nights or as dictated by the assigned territory.
