Job Description
The Tax Director, Partnerships and Tax Equity, is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing partnership and tax equity functions, ensuring compliance, managing tax planning initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize the company's tax and financial operations within the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the completion of partnership federal and state income tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Establish and maintain the cash tax forecast model incorporating partnership distribution inputs.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight for tax planning initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external partnership tax advisors and tax authorities.
- Establish and maintain internal controls over income tax accounting and reporting.
- Oversee tax credit registrations and transfers.
- Monitor legislative changes in tax law and assess their impact on the company's tax positions.
- Review partnership and joint venture tax-related general ledger reconciliations and HLBV calculations.
- Prepare and review tax equity fund annual workpapers and tax return filings as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA certification with previous experience at a Big 4 accounting firm
- Minimum of 10 years of tax experience
- Solid understanding of partnership tax concepts
- Experience in renewal energy Investment Tax Credit is a plus
- Experience with tax equity investors is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in tax reporting and compliance
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate in a team-based environment
- Availability for occasional travel
