The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining residential solar systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction, supporting installation, service, and system closeout throughout the system's lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
Schedule site visits with customers and coordinate with field teams
Provide feedback to improve installation quality and execution
Assist with project closeout and pre-energization readiness
Conduct site surveys, inspections, and document collection
Perform field installations of PV, storage, MPU, or structural upgrades
Maintain service level agreements for site visits
Support operations and monitoring tasks
Perform safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews
Communicate effectively with homeowners regarding service appointments
Support partner and internal field training
Requirements
Electrical License only required in Massachusetts; having an electrical license elsewhere is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems.
General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance.
Experience with general construction framing is a plus.
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time.
Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the workday.
Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation.
Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Must have a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
