Job Description
The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining residential solar systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction throughout the system's lifespan. The role involves onsite technical work, site surveys, and collaborating with teams to deliver high-quality solar installation and service experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
- Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
- Schedule site visits and coordinate with customers and field teams
- Provide feedback to improve installation quality and execution
- Assist with project closeout, permitting, and inspection processes
- Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection
- Deliver quality service and installation work as the primary field representative
- Communicate effectively with homeowners regarding visit times
- Maintain service level agreements for site visits
- Perform operational monitoring, site surveys, and field installations
- Conduct safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews
- Support damage and claims investigations
Requirements
- Electrical License only required in MA, a plus elsewhere
- At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems
- General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
- Electrical experience is a plus
- At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday
- Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
- Attention to detail
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Must have a clean driving record
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
