Job Description
The Design Engineer at 1st Avenue Power will lead the development, design, validation, and certification of large-scale solar PV systems, ensuring compliance and optimizing performance to support the company's mission of delivering affordable, reliable, and equitable clean energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and apply structural product load requirements based on data interpretation.
- Provide structural engineering support and serve as a technical resource for internal projects.
- Support the full product development lifecycle, including design, prototyping, and iterative improvements.
- Create CAD designs, drafts, and optimize site layouts and electrical schematics for utility-scale PV projects.
- Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting of solar PV systems in lab, field, and performance environments.
- Support sourcing, procurement, and certification processes, including compliance documentation.
- Perform site layout preparations and collaborate with cross-functional teams across development, finance, procurement, and EPC.
- Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and certification practices, including UL-2703.
- Conduct field testing on construction sites and produce testing reports.
Requirements
- Current California Structural Civil Professional Engineer (PE) license with an active stamp.
- Proficient in AutoCAD with the ability to create site layouts, plans, and detailed design drawings.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams.
