Job Description
The Design Engineer at 1st Avenue Power will lead the development, design, validation, and certification of solar PV systems and related products, playing a key role in advancing innovative, reliable, and cost-effective clean energy solutions for large-scale applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and apply structural load requirements for solar product design.
- Provide structural engineering support and act as a technical resource for projects.
- Support full product development lifecycle, including site layouts, system designs, and electrical schematics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across development, finance, procurement, and EPC.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and certification practices.
- Conduct product load testing and produce testing reports.
- Perform field testing on construction sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- Proven track record of product development and design engineering capabilities.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams.
- Proficient in Solidworks with ability to create component and assembly models and drawings.
- Experience with product compliance and certification.
- Comfortable working in a high paced startup environment.
- Ability to define and apply structural product load requirements, including data interpretation from wind tunnel testing.
- Ability to provide structural engineering support or act as a technical resource for internal projects.
- Ability to support full product development lifecycle, including preparing preliminary and detailed site layouts, system designs, and electrical schematics for utility-scale PV projects.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across development, finance, procurement, and EPC.
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and certification practices including UL-2703.
- Experience with product load testing and production of testing reports as needed.
- Experience with field testing on construction sites.
- Willingness to perform other engineering-related tasks as assigned.
