Job Description

The Senior Product Operations Manager of Hardware at Palmetto is responsible for providing technical expertise and strategic guidance on solar and residential energy hardware, managing OEM relationships, and supporting the development and expansion of hardware products to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and launch hardware technologies for solar and residential energy products
  • Lead the Palmetto LightReach Approved Vendor List process
  • Expand and manage the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program
  • Manage OEM relationships to improve hardware offerings
  • Develop and expand hardware product infrastructure including heat pumps, smart electric panels, and consumption monitoring devices
  • Provide expertise on current, future, and legacy solar and energy efficiency technologies
  • Communicate hardware requirements between stakeholders such as engineers, operations, OEMs, and investors
  • Support hardware performance, installation, and maintenance processes
  • Ensure successful hardware launches and maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL) requirements
  • Identify new partners and technologies to enhance hardware strategy
  • Maintain relationships with OEM partners and technical teams, and communicate changing requirements

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of experience in a role which provides a deep, highly technical, hands-on understanding of solar and or other energy efficiency technologies, with experience in the solar industry required.
  • Experience with other home efficiency hardware types, such as HVAC, smart thermostats, EV Chargers, etc., is a plus.
  • Ability to dive into an in-depth Independent Engineer report on a solar inverter or battery, quickly understand the risks and strengths of the product, and work with the OEM to determine what is possible to mitigate.
  • Highly analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented, with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Experience managing across multiple priorities, being adaptable, influencing peers and cross-functional teams, and organizing and leading multiple parallel workstreams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate seamlessly with senior leaders, cross-functional peers, and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Experience working at an early stage startup is preferred.
  • Possession of a Contractor’s license and/or Electrical license is preferred.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
