Job Description
This role involves supporting the accounting functions of a clean tech company by assisting with financial statement preparation, month-end close processes, compliance with GAAP, and collaborating across teams to ensure accurate and efficient financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and industry standards
- Drive the month-end close processes for timely and accurate financial reporting
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting of capitalized software development costs, lease arrangements under ASC 842, and intercompany transactions
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support compliance, automation, and consistent accounting treatment across entities
- Develop and implement policies for recognizing revenue from renewable energy projects in accordance with ASC 606
- Partner with teams to ensure accurate capture and communication of financial impacts
- Support payroll processes by acting as backup reviewer and ensuring payroll accounting accuracy
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and account reconciliations
- Assist in external audit preparations, including documentation and testing of controls
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with accounting major or Master's degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant license or equivalent required
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Ability to work comfortably with senior management
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- High degree of attention to detail and analytic abilities
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Experience assisting with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry-specific standards
- Experience driving the month-end close processes for timely and accurate reporting
- Experience ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting for capitalized software development costs, lease arrangements under ASC 842, and intercompany transactions, in alignment with GAAP and company policy
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to support compliance, automation initiatives, and consistent accounting treatment across entities
- Experience supporting the development and implementation of policies for recognizing revenue from renewable energy projects, adhering to ASC 606
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as payroll, project development, legal, and operations to ensure financial impacts are accurately captured and communicated
- Experience acting as backup reviewer and support for Payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance in payroll accounting and reporting
- Experience developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal governance
- Experience assisting in the preparation and support of external audits, including documentation and testing of key controls
- Experience identifying opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, leveraging industry-specific software and tools
- Experience supporting initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting, including implementation of new accounting standards and systems
- Experience developing and maintaining account reconciliations and other close items as necessary
- Ability to document relevant technical accounting matters
- Willingness to support special projects as assigned
