The Solar Field Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining residential solar systems, ensuring customer satisfaction and system performance throughout the system's lifespan. The role involves onsite technical work, customer communication, and supporting installation and service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
Schedule site visits and coordinate with local teams to optimize resolution times
Assist with system closeout and pre-energization tasks to ensure readiness
Provide feedback to improve installation quality and customer experience
Perform site surveys, inspections, safety and quality audits, and job closeout reviews
Conduct field installations including PV, storage, and structural upgrades
Maintain service level agreements for site visits and support monitoring activities
Support partner and internal field training
Communicate effectively with homeowners regarding visit times and updates
Requirements
Electrical License only required in Massachusetts; having an electrical license elsewhere is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems.
General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance.
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time.
Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday.
Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation.
Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.

Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
Must have a valid state driver’s license.
Must have a clean driving record.
