The Senior Product Operations Manager of Hardware at Palmetto is responsible for providing technical expertise and strategic guidance on residential clean energy hardware, including solar, batteries, and smart devices, to support product development, vendor relationships, and company growth in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and launch hardware technologies for solar and residential energy products
Lead the Palmetto LightReach Approved Vendor List process
Expand and manage the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program
Manage OEM relationships to improve hardware offerings
Develop and expand hardware product infrastructure including heat pumps, smart electric panels, and consumption monitoring devices
Provide technical expertise on solar modules, batteries, inverters, monitoring platforms, and mounting hardware
Coordinate requirements between engineers, operations, OEMs, and investors
Support hardware launches and maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL) requirements
Identify new partners and technologies to enhance hardware strategy
Maintain relationships with OEM partners and communicate changing requirements
Requirements
Seven (7) years of experience in a role which provides a deep, highly technical, hands-on understanding of solar and or other energy efficiency technologies, including experience with hardware product development, electrician installer, or similar roles.
Experience in the solar industry is required.
Experience with other home efficiency hardware types, such as HVAC systems, smart thermostats, EV Chargers, etc., is a plus.
Ability to analyze and understand in-depth Independent Engineer reports on solar inverters or batteries, including assessing risks and strengths of the product, and working with OEMs to determine mitigation strategies.
Highly analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
Experience managing multiple priorities, being adaptable, influencing peers and cross-functional teams, and organizing and leading multiple parallel workstreams.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate seamlessly with senior leaders, cross-functional peers, and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
Experience working at an early-stage startup is preferred.
Possession of a Contractor’s license and/or Electrical license is preferred.
