Job Description
The Field Service Technician at Palmetto is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting residential solar and storage systems, ensuring customer satisfaction and system performance throughout the product's lifespan. The role involves onsite installations, inspections, and providing excellent customer service in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair solar systems onsite
- Document service visits and complete job closeout reports
- Schedule site visits and coordinate with field teams to optimize resolution times
- Assist with system closeout and pre-energization tasks to ensure readiness
- Provide feedback to improve installation quality and customer experience
- Perform site surveys, inspections, and document collection
- Deliver quality service and installation work as the primary field representative
- Communicate with homeowners regarding arrival times and service updates
- Maintain service level agreements for site visits
- Perform operational maintenance, site surveys, and support monitoring
- Conduct safety and quality audits, site inspections, and job closeout reviews
- Perform field installations including PV, storage, and structural upgrades
- Investigate damages and claims related to solar systems
Requirements
- Electrical License only required in Massachusetts; having an electrical license elsewhere is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting residential solar storage systems.
- General knowledge of residential home maintenance and repair, with the ability to go the extra mile in remediating customer issues beyond the scope of solar system maintenance.
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops, and work on your feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in extreme environments such as hot sun, cold, rain, crawl spaces, etc.
- At least 1 year of experience working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs, and performing repetitive duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout the assigned workday.
- Ability to safely handle and maintain basic hand and power tools used for installation.
- Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
