Job Description
The Lead Data Platform Database Administrator is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the company's data platforms, ensuring their availability, security, and performance, with a focus on IoT timeseries data related to solar and energy storage services.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
- Architect, implement, manage, and optimize robust data platforms.
- Ensure cost transparency, containment, and forecasting for data platforms.
- Develop, enhance, and update data platform processes and standards.
- Understand business and technical requirements for IoT timeseries data.
- Design and own data platform architecture solutions in collaboration with the Data Acquisition team.
- Lead critical projects on the Data Platform roadmap.
Requirements
- Experience owning the availability, reliability, recoverability, security, and performance of data platforms.
- Ability to architect, implement, manage, and optimize robust data platforms.
- Experience with cost transparency, containment, and forecasting related to data platforms.
- Ability to own, enhance, and update Data Platform processes and standards.
- Understanding of company needs and the ability to own and execute critical projects on the Data Platform roadmap.
- Experience working with IoT timeseries data and understanding its business and technical requirements.
- Ability to own data platform architecture solutions and work closely with Data Acquisition teams for cohesive architecture.
- Experience working within an Engineering department or similar technical environment.
- Ability to report directly to a Director of Data Management and Information Security or equivalent leadership.
- Location preference or ability to work with teams located in Pittsburgh, Seattle, Upstate NY, or Denver area.
