Job Description

The 3PL Manager at Octopus Energy is responsible for overseeing the performance, cost, and continuous improvement of third-party logistics partnerships across inbound, storage, fulfillment, and distribution, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability through data-driven insights and strong governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the performance, cost, and continuous improvement of third-party logistics partnerships
  • Ensure logistics partners deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance through data-led insights and governance
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement across multiple logistics providers

Requirements

  • Experience in managing third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships, including ownership of performance, cost, and continuous improvement across inbound, storage, fulfillment, and distribution functions.
  • Ability to ensure logistics partners deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainability through data-led insight, strong governance, and open-book collaboration.
  • Proven experience at a managerial or senior level in logistics, supply chain, or related roles, with a focus on supplier performance, commercial strategy, and operational delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and continuous improvement across multiple logistics partners.
  • Willingness and ability to visit operational sites, with at least one primary operating location at the Harlow site, and conduct additional site visits based on operational demand.
  • Ability to work within a flexible working policy, arranging wider working patterns around business needs.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in managing logistics costs and performance metrics.
  • Experience in using data and analytics to inform decision-making and improve logistics operations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with logistics partners and internal teams.
  • Ability to operate at the intersection of supplier performance, commercial strategy, and operational delivery, ensuring measurable impact in a fast-moving supply chain environment.
