The Portfolio Associate will support the investment and management of renewable energy assets and infrastructure projects within the energy transition sector, working closely with entrepreneurial management teams to foster growth and sustainability in various innovative green technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage relationships with portfolio companies in the energy transition sector.
Support the growth and development of platform businesses through funding, strategy coaching, and skill gap filling.
Assist in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments in infrastructure assets within targeted sectors.
Collaborate with internal teams and external management to accelerate portfolio company growth.
Contribute to the investment process from early-stage pipelines to mature companies.
Requirements
Experience in sourcing, investing in, and managing utility-scale renewable energy assets or related infrastructure assets.
Ability to make platform investments into businesses developing infrastructure assets in sectors such as heat, datacentres, grid infrastructure, nature-based carbon removal, thermal energy storage, and green liquid fuels (SAF, ammonia, e-methanol).
Experience in backing small businesses to grow with capital and expertise, providing a pipeline of infrastructure assets for investment.
Flexibility in structuring investments, including acquiring equity stakes from minorities to 100%, entering into joint ventures, and development service agreements.
Experience investing from very early-stage greenfield pipelines to mature companies.
Ability to work with entrepreneurial management teams with a long-term partnership approach, including providing growth strategy coaching, filling skill gaps, and creating synergies with a wider organization.
Strong relationship management skills to maintain excellent relationships with a portfolio of energy transition platform companies.
Experience working across multiple sectors of the energy transition, including grid, storage, hydrogen, e-fuels, EV charging, natural capital, and heat.
Ability to support portfolio companies to achieve growth and support their development.
Demonstrated commitment to responsible investment activity and sustainable capital deployment.
Strong interpersonal skills, honesty, and empathy, aligned with a culture of empowerment and flat hierarchy.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams within a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to engage with the recruitment process and communicate effectively with the recruitment team throughout different stages.
