Job Description
A Shift Supervisor at Nuro is responsible for leading and managing a team of AV operators, overseeing their training, performance, and daily operations to ensure the successful execution of autonomous vehicle missions and continuous improvement of processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, onboard, and develop a team of AV operators
- Manage team performance through reviews, feedback, and coaching
- Oversee start and end of shift activities, including attendance and data management
- Coordinate with planning team to ensure operators are trained and prepared for new features
- Respond to operator and onsite incidents according to established procedures
- Monitor and analyze team performance, identifying and implementing improvement actions
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance operational efficiency and standardization
Requirements
- At least 2 years experience managing teams of at least 10 direct reports, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and mentoring or relevant work experience.
- Experience leading and managing a team of 20 operators, providing feedback and guidance, ensuring training competency is up to date, and offering coaching and mentoring.
- Ability to conduct performance reviews of operators in line with performance evaluation metrics and work with stakeholders to update these metrics as needed.
- Experience running the interview process and executing onboarding for new hires in accordance with the onboarding plan, including working with the Learning and Development team to develop interview and onboarding processes and grading rubrics.
- Understanding of US Labor laws, Employment laws, and Driving laws.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, evenings, and weekends to meet business needs.
- Ability to review data and analyze plan versus actual performance of the team on a weekly basis to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Experience managing Start of Shift and End of Shift activities such as capturing operator attendance, supporting software burns, data importing, and preparing operators' keys and disks.
- Ability to work closely with planning teams to understand weekly goals, operator training requirements, and allocation strategies, and to provide visibility on operator availability.
- Responsibility for responding to operator and onsite incidents according to established procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and taking initiative to resolve issues independently.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- A friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Excitement about robots and supporting the development of AI and robotics endeavors.
