Job Description
A Senior Reliability Engineer at Nuro is responsible for diagnosing, resolving, and proactively improving the reliability of autonomous vehicle systems, leading technical projects, and collaborating across teams to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve on-site technical issues related to autonomous vehicle systems
- Proactively identify systemic weaknesses and develop long-term solutions
- Lead projects to improve reliability through automation and process enhancements
- Develop data visualizations to analyze problem trends and support data-driven decisions
- Support vehicle testing and operational missions by ensuring hardware and software functionality
- Analyze software issues to determine contributing factors and corrective actions
- Design, review, and execute technical projects for fleet reliability
- Build tools and automation for diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Participate in on-call support to mitigate software issues in the vehicle fleet
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks and develop solutions
Requirements
- BS, MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related technical field.
- Experience in an on-call support rotation.
- Experience monitoring and securing server infrastructure at scale.
- Keen systematic analysis and problem-solving skills, with a passion for understanding and debugging complex systems.
- Expertise building tools for automating and troubleshooting Linux systems.
- Strong ability to reverse engineer unexpected behaviors to source code triggers.
- Coding proficiency in C, C++, Python, Golang, and/or Bash.
- Understanding and hands-on experience with Unix/Linux internals and networking.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to identify problems and take initiative to fix them.
