Job Description
The Senior Perception ML Data Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance data platforms and systems that handle complex 3D sensor data for autonomous vehicles, ensuring efficient data processing, validation, and visualization to advance autonomy capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the core perception data platform for autonomous vehicles
- Render and manipulate large-scale, multi-modal sensor datasets including Lidar, Camera, and Radar
- Parse raw sensor data and manage data pipeline propagation between onboard hardware logs and offboard visualization
- Implement data validation and annotation constraints to ensure high-quality data for ML training
- Create and maintain resilient API boundaries between ML data pipelines and the Ground Truth Data Platform
- Optimize performance of 3D rendering for high-density Lidar point clouds and multi-camera projections
- Build robust data validation layers to detect sensor calibration errors, synchronization issues, and labeling mistakes
- Lead cross-functional technical projects to improve data infrastructure and unblock operational bottlenecks
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of industry software engineering experience.
- Fluency in C programming language.
- Strong familiarity with Python programming language.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical projects, bring order to complex codebases, and drive them to completion in ambiguous settings.
- Deep practical experience in building robust, high-performance software systems or infrastructure.
- Experience with building and optimizing core data platforms for perception data visualization and annotation.
- Experience with optimizing 3D rendering of high-density Lidar point clouds and multi-camera projections in real-time.
- Ability to build robust data validation layers that catch sensor calibration errors, synchronization failures, and human labeling mistakes before they enter the ML training loop.
- Ability to create seamless, resilient API boundaries between ML data pipelines and data platform infrastructure.
