Job Description
A Senior Research Engineer responsible for modeling and assessing collision risks in autonomous vehicle systems, developing tools and methods to evaluate and mitigate collision scenarios through simulation and real-world data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess conflict scenarios by developing tools to quantify collision risk
- Identify and analyze collision-related risks from functional insufficiencies
- Develop methods and software to evaluate collision risk in simulation and real-world logs
- Model crash dynamics and predictive behaviors of agents to assess collision severity
- Evaluate, track, and report collision risks, providing strategic recommendations for improvements
- Ensure collision risks are managed and tested through software architecture, validation, and on-road operations
Requirements
- At least 5 years of technical work experience in a relevant area, with a minimum of 3 years in robotics software research and development, either offboard or onboard.
- Experience with both simulation and on-road testing of autonomous vehicles using well-defined metrics to score good driving behavior.
- Strong algorithmic problem solving skills and proficiency in Python.
- Highly collaborative with strong abilities to think and communicate analytically and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Self-starter and fast learner with a passion for picking up new skills and approaching unstructured problems from first principles.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project deadlines.
