Job Description
The Reliability Engineer will ensure the safety, reliability, and durability of hardware systems for autonomous vehicles by designing and executing testing, analyzing failures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve hardware performance and robustness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute module-level reliability test plans for hardware systems
- Conduct failure analysis and lead FA efforts on reliability test and field failures
- Develop and maintain reliability metrics, KPIs, and risk assessments for hardware components
- Influence early design processes through DFMEAs and design reviews to enhance reliability
- Specify validation plans and reliability requirements based on field conditions and physics of failure
- Support the design, validation, and production of autonomous vehicle hardware systems
- Communicate reliability findings, risks, and improvement recommendations to cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Deep background in reliability prediction, FMEA, reliability test development and execution, FRACAS, and failure analysis techniques.
- Good understanding of design of experiments theory and application.
- A basic understanding of physics of failure.
- Experience and ability to drive cross-functional teams and communicate clearly.
- Demonstrated an ability to thrive in fast-paced, start-up environments.
- Working knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CT, X-ray, EDS, FTIR etc.
- Experience in reliability engineering and testing of automotive or mission-critical electronic hardware.
- Deep understanding of automotive environmental, mechanical, and electrical stressors on hardware.
- Familiarity with automotive reliability standards and testing methods e.g., ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, SAE, IEC, JEDEC.
