Job Description
A hands-on HR Business Partner role supporting Nuro's autonomous vehicle operations workforce, focusing on employee relations, safety culture, manager enablement, and operational HR support in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day HR partner for Operations workforce, supporting employee relations and real-time employee support across multiple shifts.
- Handle employee relations matters such as attendance issues, conflicts, conduct concerns, and incident follow-ups, ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Support safety and operations teams during safety escalations, including road-collision calls and incident documentation.
- Provide guidance to frontline supervisors on documentation, coaching, and routine HR matters.
- Assist with HR processes like onboarding, workplace support, and shift-based communication updates.
- Identify patterns related to safety, performance, or engagement to surface early signals.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless employee experience.
- Support performance programs, engagement efforts, and manager enablement for frontline workers.
Requirements
- Four (4) years of HRBP or HR Generalist experience supporting hourly, contingent, or temp-to-hire populations in operations, logistics, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environments.
- Strong experience with high-volume employee relations, including investigations, documentation, and decision-making under time-sensitive operational conditions.
- Comfortable working in onsite, shift-based environments, including occasional overnight or early morning shift support.
- Ability to build quick trust with both workers and frontline managers by balancing empathy with clarity and accountability.
- Strong understanding of California employment law, particularly for high-volume non-exempt workforces.
- Process-minded with the ability to build lightweight, scalable approaches without slowing down operations.
- Calm, practical, and steady demeanor during safety escalations, staffing surges, or complex employee relations situations.
- High learning agility to quickly understand operator workflow and its connection to vehicle testing, milestones, and safety.
