Job Description

The HR Business Partner supports Nuro's autonomous vehicle operations workforce by managing employee relations, safety culture, and operational HR processes in a fast-paced, shift-based environment, ensuring a safe, fair, and effective workplace for frontline employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-to-day HR partner for operations workforce, supporting employee relations, attendance, conflicts, and policy questions.
  • Support safety and operations teams during safety escalations, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Provide guidance to frontline supervisors on documentation, coaching, and routine HR matters.
  • Assist with HR processes such as onboarding, workplace support, and shift-based communication.
  • Identify patterns related to safety, performance, or engagement across teams and shifts.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent employee experience.
  • Support performance programs, engagement efforts, and manager enablement for frontline workers.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of HRBP or HR Generalist experience supporting hourly, contingent, or temp-to-hire populations in operations, logistics, manufacturing, warehouse, or similar environments.
  • Strong experience with high-volume employee relations, including investigations, documentation, and decision-making under time-sensitive operational conditions.
  • Comfortable with onsite, shift-based environments, including occasional overnight or early morning shift support.
  • Known for building quick trust with both workers and frontline managers, balancing empathy with clarity and accountability.
  • Strong understanding of California employment law, particularly for high-volume non-exempt workforces.
  • Process-minded with the ability to build lightweight, scalable approaches without slowing down operations.
  • Calm, practical, and steady during safety escalations, staffing surges, or complex employee relations situations.
  • High learning agility to quickly understand operator workflow and how it ties into vehicle testing, milestones, and safety.
