Job Description
The Senior Interconnection Engineer at Nexamp is responsible for managing utility interconnection processes, providing technical expertise on renewable energy project integration, and supporting project development and optimization in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage utility interconnection applications from submission to project closeout.
- Perform detailed review and analysis of technical documentation, utility reports, and interconnection agreements.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations during study reviews and negotiations.
- Prepare interconnection cost estimates and hosting capacity analyses.
- Collaborate with project managers on value engineering and cost optimization.
- Support technical closure of projects, including site visits and witness tests.
- Lead technical assessments to identify and resolve interconnection challenges.
- Review and ensure compliance of project designs with utility requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on interconnection processes and standards.
- Support business development activities such as site selection and pre-application analysis.
Requirements
- Three years of relevant experience with a utility, solar developer, Regional Transmission Organization, or consultancy, focusing on technical aspects of interconnection or interconnection-related activities and issues.
- Strong knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code, and other standards relevant to the industry.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD software.
- Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Moderate proficiency with Microsoft collaboration tools such as Salesforce, Teams, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- EIT Certification.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
