Job Description

The Grid Integration Program Manager oversees solar project integration from initial approval to operational status, coordinating multiple projects, managing resources and risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic goals within the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee PV solar grid integration projects from UIA pre-NTP to Permission to Operate (PTO).
  • Track project progress, manage interdependencies, and ensure projects stay on schedule for PTO.
  • Develop and manage the program roadmap, coordinating multiple project timelines and milestones.
  • Manage program-level costs and ensure adherence to budget, securing additional funding if needed.
  • Monitor key project components such as interconnection applications, utility studies, permits, and testing.
  • Lead risk management efforts at the program level and escalate issues to senior leadership.
  • Develop and publish project progress reports and burn down charts.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight and reporting to senior leadership on program performance and KPIs.

Requirements

  • Coordinate a portfolio of PV solar grid integration projects from UIA pre-NTP to Permission to Operate (PTO) with other support groups, ensuring the overall program stays aligned with business goals and resources are allocated effectively.
  • Manage interdependencies between projects to ensure all projects are on track for PTO and handle program-level risks and issues.
  • Oversee the execution of PV solar grid integration projects within the program from UIA pre-NTP to PTO, including tracking and following up weekly on assigned pipeline pre-NTP projects with Salesforce updates.
  • Develop and manage the program roadmap, coordinating multiple project timelines and critical milestones across all projects.
  • Drive challenging projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and behind-the-meter applications.
  • Secure stakeholder approval for project management-related Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs), process efficiency improvement tools, and reporting templates.
  • Track and manage program-level costs from Mechanical Completion (MC) through PTO, ensuring the program stays within the GRIT-controlled budget and securing additional contingency funding as necessary.
  • Monitor key project components such as Utility Interconnection Application (UIA), Interconnection Service Agreements (ISA), utility studies, easements, utility payments, regulatory permitting, Notice to Proceed (NTP), Mechanical Completion (MC), site visits, Permission to Energize (PTE), witness testing, certificates of completion (CoC), and project closeout.
  • Lead risk management efforts at the program level, addressing inter-project risks and escalating issues to senior leadership as needed.
  • Develop and publish Work Burn Down Charts for applicable projects, particularly in Q4.
  • Monitor regulatory compliance and ensure all projects meet industry standards including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE 142, UL 1741, UL 2703, IEEE 1547, and OSHA 10 safety requirements.
  • Provide strategic oversight and reporting to senior leadership to ensure program goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in developer, construction management, engineering, utility, or solar industry with a successful track record in project or program management.
  • Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications plans.
  • Have working knowledge of civil construction, electrical construction, and utility construction.
  • Possess knowledge of OSHA Safety standards, with OSHA 10 certification as a minimum requirement.
  • Understand quality control methods and procedures.
  • Have strong administrative skills, including proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Procore, data acquisition systems, SCADA, communications, and remote computing.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Possess a valid and current Driver’s License.
