Job Description
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for leading the end-to-end satellite production process, transforming advanced engineering designs into reliable, scalable hardware, and managing teams and processes to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full design-to-manufacturing pipeline for satellite hardware
- Drive design for manufacturability (DFX) into early engineering stages
- Ensure MGSE and EGSE systems are robust and production-ready
- Build and lead manufacturing and test teams to meet production goals
- Develop processes to maintain smooth, surprise-free production flow
- Solve real hardware problems in high-pressure build environments
- Ensure complex hardware is delivered on schedule
Requirements
- Experience leading manufacturing and test teams through high-pressure builds and delivering complex hardware on schedule.
- Proven ability to close the gap between engineering intent and production reality.
- Hands-on leadership skills with the ability to solve real problems on real hardware.
- Experience owning the full design-to-manufacturing pipeline and driving Design for Excellence (DFX) into early engineering conversations.
- Ability to ensure Manufacturing, Test, and Support Equipment (MGSE and EGSE) systems are robust and ready for production.
- Experience building processes and teams that keep production flowing without surprises.
- Demonstrated success in turning cutting-edge engineering into reliable, repeatable, and scalable production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly of high-performance satellite hardware.
- Experience in managing manufacturing operations at scale, with the goal of producing tens of satellites annually.
- Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous environment and solve real hardware problems.
- Experience working in or leading manufacturing within the aerospace or satellite industry is implied, given the context of satellite production.
