Job Description
The Fleet Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the real-time operations of autonomous trucks, ensuring timely and safe deliveries through effective communication, route management, and incident handling in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate real-time fleet operations and communicate route instructions to Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs).
- Monitor the status of dispatched vehicles and deliveries, prioritize tasks, and provide updates to AVOs and clients.
- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency communications, assessing situations and offering solutions.
- Update clients on delivery statuses, delays, or changes to ensure satisfaction.
- Escalate urgent issues and resolutions to supervisors and management.
- Utilize fleet management software and TMS to track vehicle locations, freight progress, and estimated arrival times.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Log operational data, including schedules, delays, communications, and incidents, and escalate critical issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work requests, customer requests, and operational activities.
- Assist in generating reports on operational metrics, events, and shift activities.
Requirements
- Proven, high-volume experience of at least 3 years as a dispatcher in the transportation, fleet, shipping, or logistics industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of DOT FMCSA regulations as they relate to Hours of Service and general compliance.
- Highly proficient with modern communication and logistics tools, including order management systems, dispatching software, TMS Transportation Management System, and instant messaging platforms such as Slack and Zoom.
- Outstanding organizational skills, the ability to effectively multitask, and sound judgment for critical thinking and rapid decision-making under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and calmly to drivers, Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs), and client personnel.
- Experience with fast, accurate data entry and a background in running reports or performing basic operational analytics.
- Must be able to work a full 12-hour shift, primarily on site at the Fort Worth, TX office near Alliance Airport.
- Flexibility and responsiveness are essential, with possible overnight schedule availability.
